The leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has raised a fresh alarm over Nigeria’s political future, warning President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to be wary of the United States President, Donald Trump.
According to the outspoken cleric, recent global events—particularly developments surrounding Venezuela—are a signal that President Tinubu may be in the crosshairs of American political interests.
In a statement issued on Sunday and signed by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, Primate Ayodele claimed that Trump has already “caged” Tinubu and is working towards ensuring his removal from office.
He alleged that the support being extended by the United States to Nigeria in the fight against insecurity is not driven by goodwill alone, but by a deeper agenda to gain influence within Nigeria’s political system.
“Trump is adamant to remove President Tinubu. America will be part of those who will be against Tinubu. You may not see it as I am being shown, and that’s why I am saying Trump is after removing Tinubu, that’s it and nothing more.”
Primate Ayodele further stated that Nigeria’s security challenges will persist regardless of American involvement, insisting that Trump’s true focus lies elsewhere.
“Nigeria will still continue to fight insecurity, but either they fight it or not, Trump is focused on removing Tinubu from office, but he doesn’t know it yet. He isn’t after ending insecurity in the country, he knows what he wants and won’t stop at nothing towards achieving it.”
The cleric concluded with a strong warning to the Nigerian president, urging him to act decisively to counter what he described as an unfolding international plot.
“Tinubu must take a very bold step to overcome the plans of Trump, because he has caged him already. Tinubu must not relent his efforts and bring up strategies for him to succeed otherwise, he would be at the losing end while his defeat would be celebrated,” he added.
Primate Ayodele’s comments have once again stirred debate, adding to ongoing discussions about foreign influence, national sovereignty, and Nigeria’s place in global power politics.
