Tinubu, I Owe You The Truth, Not Loyalty

By Sa'adiyyah Adebisi Hassan

On this Nnamdi Kanu matter, I am not on the side of tribe, I am on the side of sense.

I have disagreed with many of my Igbo friends for years especially over 2023 elections, Lagos politics, and the constant attempt to dictate who should rule Yorùbá land. I still believe no Igbo person has the right to choose a governor or president for us in Yorùbáland, just as we have no right to impose leaders on the South-East. That one is settled.

But politics is one thing. Justice is another.

This Is My Message To My Fellow Yorùbá

The way Nnamdi Kanu is being handled is slowly becoming a war with the Igbo by other means and almost everyone driving that injustice today is Yorùbá:

Yorùbá President

Yorùbá Attorney General

Yorùbá key appointees

Yorùbá media and social media warriors cheering from the sidelines

Whether you like it or not, this will be remembered as “Yorùbá vs Kanu,” not “Nigeria vs Kanu.”

They are planting a seed in our name that our children may be forced to harvest.

If you are Yorùbá and you have sense, this is the time to say:  “Not in my name. I want justice, not witch-hunting.”

TINUBU will leave office one day 2031 at the latest. But the bitterness this style of governance is sowing may outlive all of us.

To The So-Called “Progressives” And “Ronu”

Let’s settle something:

I was Buharist from 2015 to 2018.

When I saw he was destroying the country, I turned back and fought him.

Everything I warned about Buhari, you are all living inside it today.

I started advocating power shift to the South since 2020. By early 2021, I was openly pushing for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu when many of you were still pretending to be “neutral.”

So don’t come here and teach me loyalty to Tinubu. I saw his presidency before you did.

But hear this well: My loyalty is to Nigeria, not to any man. Once you derail, I will say it. Finish.

You cannot shout “One Nigeria” and at the same time support a style of justice that looks like collective punishment for a whole region.

You cannot be clapping while a political case is turned into a regional war.

To The “Ronu” Separatists

You never loved Nigeria.

You wanted Odùduwà Republic.

You only embraced Tinubu because you thought he would help break the country.

Me and you are not the same.

I want a functional Nigeria where justice is not selective, where agitators are engaged politically, and terrorists are not given VIP rehabilitation.

You cannot gag my voice. I was a nightmare to Buharists, and I will be a nightmare to any government that repeats Buhari’s madness  whether headed by a Northerner or a Yorùbá man.

My message is simple:

Free Nnamdi Kanu through a political solution, not ego.

Engage the South-East leadership genuinely.

Stop turning a legal case into tribal warfare by proxy.

Remember: Tinubu will go. But what he does in our name as Yorùbá will remain on our record.

I am not fighting for Igbo or for Tinubu.

I am fighting for a future where justice does not have a tribe.
