A young woman was allegedly killed on Monday inside Bekay Pharmacy at the Total Roundabout in Nsukka, Enugu State, following a confrontation over suspected infidelity.
The incident reportedly occurred when a man identified as Emma Nwagwu confronted the woman while she was receiving treatment at the pharmacy.
According to a Facebook post by popular social media influencer Sen. Chijinkem Ugwuanyi, Nwagwu accused the woman of being involved with another man—allegedly a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) serving in the Nsukka area. Ugwuanyi claimed that the alleged DPO was outside in his vehicle at the time of the confrontation.
Witnesses said the argument escalated, and during the altercation, the woman sustained severe injuries. She was said to have collapsed and died on the spot. An enraged crowd attempted to attack the suspect before security operatives intervened.
Ugwuanyi further alleged that Nwagwu also attempted to confront the DPO, who reportedly drew his service pistol, prompting bystanders to restrain both men.
Nwagwu was later taken into custody at the Nsukka Police Area Command.
There are also unconfirmed reports that the suspect is a known political operative who has worked with various administrations in Nsukka Local Government.
The Enugu State Police Command has not yet issued an official statement on the incident.
Ugwuanyi wrote:
“This notorious man from #Opi_Nsukka working with every govt in power in Nsukka Local government area kîlled this girl yesterday inside #Bekay pharmacy shop located at total roundabout Nsukka.”
